FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

This third-party verified declaration reinforces MAXTERRA®’s position as the most transparent and rigorously tested MgO product on the market.

BRADENTON, Fla. (March 26, 2025)  — NEXGEN Building Products, LLC has announced the release of a third-party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its MAXTERRA® line of magnesium oxide (MgO) building panels, making it the only MgO product with an EPD verified for the North American market. This milestone reinforces MAXTERRA®’s position as the most tested, most transparent, and most rigorously certified MgO board in the marketplace.

Published through Labeling Sustainability, the EPD was developed in alignment with ISO 14025 and ISO 21930 standards and is based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study of the production process, including: acquisition of raw materials, transport, and the manufacturing process. The verification was completed by a third-party technical reviewer under the auspices of Labeling Sustainability’s EPD program operator status.

“There’s a lot of greenwashing in the materials space,” said Scott Lidberg, CEO of NEXGEN. “We made the decision to do the work, invest in the testing, and make our data public. This EPD isn’t just a box we checked—it’s proof that MAXTERRA® is not just the most high-performing MgO board on the market, but also the most transparent and environmentally responsible.”

Environmental Product Declarations have become the gold standard for product transparency in the built environment, particularly for architects, specifiers, and developers committed to green building standards such as LEED, WELL, and the Buy Clean initiative. With its EPD now available for download, MAXTERRA® helps simplify the documentation process for projects requiring third-party verified environmental reporting.

The MAXTERRA® EPD includes disclosures for several of the company’s high-performance MgO products, including structural sheathing, structural floor panels, wall board, and tile backer board. This broad product coverage provides a competitive advantage to project teams seeking a single-source solution with consistent and comprehensive environmental documentation.

“For our customers, this is about more than compliance. It’s about making informed decisions and reducing the carbon footprint,” said Eric Polzin, Chief Construction Science Officer at NEXGEN. “The EPD reinforces what we’ve been saying all along: there’s no need to compromise between performance and sustainability.”

The MAXTERRA® product line has already earned a reputation as the most highly certified MgO panel on the market. It is recognized for its fire resistance, moisture durability, structural integrity, and ease of installation. Unlike many early-generation MgO boards that relied on corrosive magnesium chloride binders, MAXTERRA® is engineered with a sulfate-based formulation that delivers enhanced stability and long-term performance. With the addition of a third-party verified EPD, NEXGEN further solidifies its position as the most thoroughly tested and forward-thinking MgO manufacturer in the industry.
