Mold spores live in the air we breathe. They're always there and there's no way to get rid of them. But we don't notice them until they settle on a surface and start to grow. And all it takes for spores to transform into visible mold is oxygen, moisture, and an organic food source. Drywall and wood are organic materials that get wet and provide mold a food source. NEXGEN MgO is water/moisture resistant and is composed of inorganic materials that provide no food source.
What standards are used for mold?
There are several building standards that apply to mold and mildew resistance. ASTM C1185 is requirements for Moisture Content and ASTM C1186 is requirements for Moisture Movement and Water Absorption. ASTM D3273 is requirements for Resistance to Growth of Mold and Mildew.
