01 THE CHALLENGES

It's Tough Building Homes in 2022

Whether it's meeting buyers' evolving expectations, budget demands, supply chain shortages or a shrinking labor force, today's residential home builders face numerous challenges.

Home buyers are aware that many of them are living in high-risk wildfire hurricane, tornado, flood, or other disaster-prone areas. Last year 1 in 10 US homes was affected by a weather disaster, making safety and insurability top priorities for today’s home buyers.

In addition to safety, buyers want their home to be eco-friendly and energy efficient. 68% of homeowners want a greener home, and they are willing to spend more today for the promise of long-term savings and value.

Finding building trades staff is tough today. Furthermore, relying on an outdated building model that 1) depends heavily on subcontractors and 2) uses legacy onsite construction techniques that creates a productivity gap prevents builders from fully addressing their buyer's needs and maximizing their own bottom line.

Builders must learn how to incorporate innovative building materials that are resilient to disaster damage are eco-friendly and energy efficient to meet market demands.

5 Key Drivers of Home Building Success

Home builders have building products that enable them to build high-performance homes that are resilient to disaster conditions, are ecofriendly and energy efficient to meet buyers' expectations,

Builders now have new ways to build affordable homes that people want to live in.

There are new building materials that are easier and faster to install and requires less skills and types of trades people on site.

There are now cost-effective solutions for off-site construction of panels and walls that can be brought on-site to radically accelerate construction time.

Innovative building products incorporated in high performance homes drive sales and can increase profits.

06 FAQS and Objections

Important Questions to Ask

You will always have questions when investigating a new innovative building material like NEXGEN MgO boards.  Here are some of the most Frequently Asked Questions from Home Builders.

What are the downsides of MgO?

MgO is a high-performance building material that has a plethora of advantages; however, some aspects might be considered "downsides," such as how MgO boards are heavier and use stainless steel fasteners when compared to plywood and drywall. Despite these differences, the three materials have the same installation process.

Will it cost more to build high performance?

MgO is slightly more expensive than legacy sheeting and underlayment. Still, the savings in construction time, insurance, energy, and maintenance costs can more than compensate for the materials needed to deliver a high-performance building.

Why haven’t I heard of MgO before?

Building with MgO is nothing new. The Great Wall of China is built with MgO. This material, however, wasn't readily available in the USA until recently. Since most builders haven't had access to this product, there is little public knowledge about MgO and its benefits.

Why should we choose NEXGEN?

We enable our clients to build high-performance homes with materials that yield greater health, safety, long-term financial savings, energy savings, and sustainability.
