FAQ

Need clarification?

What is Water Resistance?

A water resistant material like NEXGEN Mgo board repels the penetration of water to a substantial degree and significantly reduces destruction caused by exposure to liquid.  Water resistance differs from water proof which means impermeability to water no matter the time duration.

What are the Water Resistance standards?

The ASTM C1185 supplies the standards for Flexural Strength due to water exposure and moisture content. ASTM C1186 supplies the standards for Moisture Movement and  Water Absorption.  ASTM C1396 covers Humidified Deflection. AC376 and ASTM E72 cover Wet Racking Shear.

What are the best Water Resistance building techniques?

It is not surprising that building residential and commercial structures in such a way that floods do not cause structural damage involves using different types of water resistant materials.  These include concrete, closed cell insulation, bricks, tiles, aluminum, steel, and NEXGEN MgO boards instead of wood, drywall and plywood.
